I just got finished reading a very long, wordy rant about how our club sucks because we ask people if they want to be critiqued and how that apparently makes us cowards. So I'm going to be straight with you guys... if you don't want a critique, and you are not prepared to be turned down (like Mr. Cranky Pants was), do not submit to this group! I can't stress this enough. MOST submissions do not get accepted. This is not a group that wants to contribute to your page views. That's not the reason we exist. We want to help inspire artists into wanting to improve, and we want to honor really fantastic work by showcasing it in our gallery. We don't accept everything, and if you can't handle rejection, please don't submit. If you want a critique, we would love to help you out and we offer critiques to anyone who asks-- if you have the DA Critique option set up on your pic we'd love to leave a critique there so you can get more views from the Critiqueables page.

Also, we are not afraid to open up a can of Angry White Bitch on you if you are consistently rude and insult the way we run our group, spam us, or call the rest of the art in the gallery low-quality. Instead of getting a friendly critique, you will get a mean one, especially if we (and by we I mostly mean me) are having a bad day.

If you want to make a formal complaint, that's fine, but make sure you read the rules first. We would much rather work with you and help you to understand our decisions than to have to say "read the rules" fifty times. Was your artwork in the wrong folder? Was your art a sketch on notebook paper you did in math class? Is your art style more Westernized and looks like something from the Marvel universe? Was your picture a copy, or did it feature screen caps from an anime? Did you color in a page from your favorite manga? If you did any of these, you probably didn't get accepted. We look at composition, technique, presentation, anatomy, coloring, and the overall picture when we vote. If you have really outstanding coloring and composition, but anatomy is only so-so, we may still let your picture in because the other areas are impressive. At the same time, your pic may be mostly nice but have a glaring flaw-- characters are cut off at the ankle, hands are awkwardly hidden behind the character's back, foreshortening looks awful, the picture is badly scanned or cropped... well, you're free to ask for a critique so you won't make the same mistakes in your next pic.

I know it sucks to get rejected-- I've been rejected too. I then reworked the picture after asking for a critique and voila, my pic was accepted and looked much much better. I came out of it with some ideas I'd never thought of before, and it was a good learning experience for me.

However, if you want to complain because your pics are expiring and not even getting voted for or against, that's another problem entirely, and feel free to call us stupid pigs or something because we really should be more on top of voting. About 15 contributors on this group are inactive, and unfortunately I don't have the ability to knock 'em off the group. We're working on that, but it's hard to keep track of everyone, so please feel free to resubmit with a note saying "This expired last time I submitted it, so get it together and vote this time, a-holes!" We'll even shine your shoes if you like.
